According to the WHO, up to 5% of the population are suffering from mental disorders. Most common place in the structure of this disease are occupied by depressive disorder (about 100 million people in the world) and neurosis, characterized by severe somatization, protracted course, resistant to treatment.
Features and flow of modern mental disorders lead to the formation of a temporary or permanent disability among patients, who are a risk factor for suicidal behavior, which explains, how important is the medico-social significance of the study of this pathology.
Depression, according to WHO, once in a lifetime would experience 20 - 25% of women, and 7 - 12% of men. More than half of them require treatment in a hospital, and for about 65% - relapse of the disease occurred.
In analyzing the causes of the disease the factors of mental trauma in patients with neuroses, depression and other psychopathological syndromes have been identified:
1) conflicts in the family;
2) professional conflicts;
3) loss of work (unemployment);
4) illness or death of the loved ones;
5) experienced disasters, and catastrophes;
6) iatrogenic (harm from doctor's words );
7) The long-term emotional isolation (loneliness).
It should be noted that in development of modern depressions the social factors are playing big role, which gives the alarm (hypochondriac), phobic and somatovegetative components in the clinical course of disease.
We distinguish the following depressions:
1) endogenous (periodic, cyclic);
2) late (involutional depression);
3) psychogenic: reactive, neurotic depressions;
4) exhaustion depressions, often accompanied by autism;
5) somatogenic;
6) larvirovaine forms;
7) climax;
8) other depressive states.
A variety of causes of mechanisms of mental disorders, their formation and clinical manifestations requires unconventional approaches to treating such a patients (mainstreaming of psychological treatment, relaxation therapy and herbal medicine).
Neurosis – is the most common form of psychogenic (painful conditions, arising from exposure to the psychotraumatic factors), characterized by the compulsive disorders, hysterical manifestations, and others, the presence of somatic and autonomic disorders.
Neurosis is one of the major groups of inorganic mental disorder, characterized by the severe changes in mental functions.
At neuroses a typical for personality disorders significant changes in behavior and interpersonal relationships may occur.
Anxious neurosis - (generalized anxiety disorder, anxious reaction) is characterized by the chronic anxiety, which does not correspond to reality, often intermittent by acute attacks of anxiety or panic.
This neurosis is observed in 5% of the population, mainly in young adults, and women suffer twice as often as men.
Anxiety, is a symptom, characteristic of all mental disorders, but for anxiety neurosis, it is the sole or primary symptom. The cardinal sign of anxiety neurosis – are acute anxiety attacks (panic disorder).
Acute anxiety attacks with a predominance of cardiovascular manifestations are sometimes misdiagnosed as a myocardial infarction. Autonomic dysfunction and hyperexcitability should be distinguished from symptoms of pheochromocytoma, and thyrotoxicosis.
Phobic neurosis - (phobic disorders, phobic reactions) are characterized by unexplained, or overly exaggerated fear with regard to any objects, situations or physiological phenomena, which essentially are not dangerous and can not be a source of anxiety.
The leading symptom of these disorders - acute or chronic anxiety, but for anxiety neurosis, the vague anxiety states, then for phobic neurosis, the anxiety associated with a specific external stimulus. Phobic disorders are observed in less than 1% of the population, and occur in about 5% of neurotic patients, older than 18 years.
Expressed by increased activity of the autonomic NS, which is manifested by the instability of mood, bulimia (excessive appetite increased), poor sleep periodically.
For patients with phobias sometimes depressions are developed, because of the inability to get rid of fear. However, these are secondary, and are successfully treated with proper phobia treatment.
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PSP) occurs for some individuals as a result of staying in emergency stressful conditions, and is characterized by episodes of re-emerging feelings circumstances of stress, reduced emotions, and general excitement.
The development of a pathological condition is caused by many factors and their combinations. PSP should be distinguished from the depression, anxiety and phobic disorders.
Although in its structure can be found depression, and anxiety, and phobias, these disorders are clearly secondary to the experiences of the transferred psychic trauma.
For patients with suspected PSP we should exclude damages to the brain, which may underlie changes in memory and attention. It should be remembered, that patients with PSP are particularly prone to develop dependence from the psychotropic drugs.
Treatment and the statistics
In the neurological center for 1999-2005 y.y. the results of treatment of 496 patients with various psychopathological syndromes were examined and analyzed. The age of patients has been ranged from 9 to 46 years, of which 162 were men, women – 304, and children - 30.
Influence of the complex products to flow, clinical manifestations and outcome in patients with non-organic mental disorders, were studied for the most encountered syndromes:
• - Neurasthenia - 57% of cases;
• - compulsion neurosis (phobic neurosis, obsessive-compulsive neurosis) - 35%;
• - hysterical neurosis - 13%;
• - depressive syndrome - 44%;
• - autistic disorders - 18%.
Depending on the duration of illness, presence of psychotraumatic factors, age and individual characteristics of mental patients, the combination of medications and herbal remedies, and their doses were changed. A full course of treatment was 2 years.
Assessment of the treatment outcomes was conducted independently by patients with the help of specific questionnaires, and when you visit the clinic - based on the results of psycho-somatic status and data of instrumental methods of examination (ECHO-EG, REG, EEG).
The evaluation was conducted in the dynamics (3, 6, 12 and 24 months).
After processing of the data obtained, the results were the following:
• 3 months from start of treatment in 83% of cases decreased irritability and anxiety;
• in 78% depressed mood has disappeared;
• in 62% of the cases developed an interest in work and social life, almost half of the patients has increased the tolerance to psycho-emotional, physical activity, increased mental (professional) performance;
• for 49% sleep was normalized;
• in 48% - appetite returned to normal ;
• for 33% of patients with unexplained painful phobias fears were disappeared;
• in 31% - weakened features of autism (appeared a desire to communicate with peers, parents).
• In 3.4% of cases the treatment method was not effective enough for patients in the acute stage of chronic psychogenic, or unavailability of productive contact with the patient.
Contraindications to receive herbal teas: Individual intolerance of medicinal herbs.
The mechanism of action
From the medicinal plants by phytomicrosphericity method active ingredients (lecithin, unsaturated fatty acids, amino acids, neurotransmitters, vitamins E, A, B, B2, C, biologically active plant-iodine, trace elements Mg, K, Ca, Cu, Re ) were isolated.
The main properties of these biologically active substances have the drug "Bionormalin" and the rectal candles :
1) The vasodilating action;
2) improvement of the rheological properties of blood and improvement of the cerebral and peripheral blood circulation;
3) additional sources of vitamin C, Bp B2, P, PP, E, flavonoids and trace elements (Mg, P, Re, Se) have antioxidant effects, due to the blockade of free radicals at the cellular level, the normalization of cerebral metabolism, reducing the risk of oxygen starvation of the brain. And, as a result - improved cognitive function, improves memory, concentration, increases resistance to physical and mental stress;
4) anti-sclerotic effect;
5) regulation of all types of metabolism (fat, carbohydrate, protein, water and salt);
6) immunocorrecting action, aimed at the normalization of cellular immunity;
7) elimination of toxic substances and metabolites within 48 hours.
