It is believed that herpes infection is one of the most common latent viral infection of the humans.

According to WHO from 70 to 90% of the world population are carriers of the herpes viruses.

Each year in the CIS countries 20 million new cases of herpetic disease is recorded, and they take 2nd place after the flu.

Family of gerpeviruses (Herpes viridae) unites about 70 viruses. Only 8 of them are the HSV-1, HSV-2, varicella zoster virus - herpes zoster, cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, human gerpevirus of types 6, 7 and 8.

Herpes simplex virus (HSV) affects the central nervous system (encephalitis, myelitis, encephalomyelitis), eyes (keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, uveitis), liver (hepatitis for newborn and adult), mucous membranes and skin.

The defeat of the skin and mucous membranes - is the most common clinical form of herpes infection.

The source of the HSV infection is a patient or virus carrier. The virus can be transmitted by airborne droplets, contact, sex, or transfusion ways.

It was established that 40% of the primary infection of HSV occurs through airborne droplets, and the source of infection may include family members, who have active symptoms of herpes infection.

There are two serotypes of herpes simplex virus:

• HSV-1 infects the skin of exposed parts of the body (face, limbs), mucous of the eyes, mouth, upper respiratory tract ;
• HSV-2 usually affects the skin and mucous of the genitals (genital herpes).

HSV-2 infected about 80% of women of childbearing age, of whom for one third it is manifested in the form of a classic bubble shape. HSV-1 causes herpes zoster, penetrating directly into the skin, it is determined in the sensory ganglia and affects their parasympathetic effector cells.

Penetrating into the nerve endings, the virus most often affects the spinal and cerebral ganglia, and may extend into the substance of the spinal cord (anterior and posterior horns, white matter) and brain (oblong brain, hypothalamus, meninges).

We distinguish recurrent form of herpes, and it is observed in 30 - 50% of the infected people and growing during 6 months. A relapse is triggered by a weakened immune system, caused by excessive exposure to the solar radiation, respiratory infections, exposure to the psycho-emotional stress.

Recurrent forms of herpes have devastating effects on the immune system of the patient, which clinically manifests itself in frequent colds, reduce work efficiency, subfebrile temperature, swollen lymph nodes.

Numerous clinical and the experimental research has revealed a key role of the herpeviruses in the development of the cardiovascular diseases and their complications.

In his virus theory of atherogenesis, professor Avakyan G.S. assigns a leading role to the herpetic infection in the atherosclerotic process.

The most reliable data were obtained for HSV, cytomegalovirus (CMV), and Epstein-Barr virus.

It is established, that the association of CMV and HSV was found in 48.5% of patients with an acute myocardial infarction (AMI), in 22.7% of patients with an unstable stenocardia, and in 12.8% for patients with stable angina.

Pathogenic effect of viruses is to damage the arterial wall, lipid and protein metabolism, stimulation of the autoimmune processes, disrupting the expression of cellular genes, haemocoagulative violations.

In addition, herpevirus reinforce postponement of immune complexes on the wall of blood vessels, inhibit the function of T lymphocytes, and increase risk of the autoimmune deposits.

Thus, herpetic infection is given the provocative role in the development of stroke, the progression of hypertension, discirculatory encephalopathy, myocardial infarction.

Treatment and the statistics

Academician Avakyan G.S. have developed a unique herbal treatment for herpetic infection with high antiviral activity. The aim of this work was to study the treatment results of the 340 patients with various forms of herpes infection. Among them - 113 were men, 180 were women (mean age 43.5 years), and 47 children (median age 7. 6 years).

According to the nosological forms of the disease patients were distributed as follows:

1) herpes encephalitis - 44 patients (30 of them children);
2) postherpetic stroke - 95 patients;
3) postherpetic myocardial infarction - 71 patients;
4) genital herpes - women 30, men - 19;
5) herpetic hepatitis - 33, and 11 of them are children;
6) shingles - 48 patients.

For all the patients within 3 weeks prior to treatment the diagnosis was confirmed by clinical and laboratory methods RNIF with monoclonal sera to HSV and CMV, as well as clinical and biochemical composition of blood was studied, carrying out an electrocardiogram, NMRI of the brain, ultrasound.

Contraindications to receive the herbal teas: idiosyncrasy of the medicinal herbs.

The Mechanism of the action

From the medicinal plants by the liphiliziration method an active ingredients were identified (lecithin, unsaturated fatty acids, amino acids, neurotransmitters, vitamins E, A, B1, B2, B6, PP, C, biologically active, trace elements Mg, K, Ca, Cu, Fe, Se , P).
